I'm a Newcastle woman who has raised two children and is now looking forward to living in a sustainable community. I live in the suburbs and feel this environment is somewhat incompatible with human connection and mutual support. I am looking to fill those needs in me, and help fill those needs in others.
I own my own home, and while it is full of character, and beautiful to look at, it is cold in Winter. I am keen to live in a house/community which uses passive solar energy and which has been designed with energy efficiency, as well as water conservation in mind. I am a raw food, low- fat vegan: firstly for health reasons, and secondly because it is the most sustainable and humane way to eat. Fruit trees produce more calories for humans to consume and are less labour intensive than any other crop. And Yes, research shows that we can live perfectly healthy lives and even run ultra marathons and build lots of muscle on fruit and greens. I was excited to see that there are established fruit trees already on the Narrara site. I love animals and look forward to living in a community which protects native habitats by disallowing domestic pets. I am a very active and strong individual who likes to run/walk, do strength training, practice Yoga, Chi kung, Meditate, Read, watch Australian and European films, Garden and create beautiful spaces in my home and garden... I am also interested in world traditions and religions and for seventeen years have created community events to celebrate the seasons of the earth. I am about to complete a Permaculture Certificate course and look forward to utilising my skills in a community setting.. I am trained in Re-Evaluation Counselling (peer counselling) and In Non Violent Communication. I am a Senior High school English teacher and I look forward to changing my means of income in the near future. I am very experienced with, and love children of all ages and believe that we all need to have regular contact with people from all generations. I have been a breastfeeding counsellor and a trained Childbirth Educator. I feel delighted and inspired by all the preliminary work, care and thought that has already gone into this SCEV. The Sydney Coastal Eco Village project fills me with excitement and hope for this world!!
