I grew up on a sheep property in rural NSW and from a young age spent a lot of time outdoors. I moved to Sydney for school and university where I received a degree in Media and Communications from UNSW. I spent one long year in the corporate world before deciding to travel. I explored Europe and North America and had so much fun working at ski resorts in Canada, that I came back to Australia to work as a ski patroller. In Thredbo, I found my home. I spent four winters living there. I loved being in a place so centred on the environment. In the village, the community vibe was strong and I saw so many friends in the course of the day that I didn't need to organise dates and times to socialise. The summers were more tricky. I decided to follow the winter to Tahoe, California where I ended up meeting my husband. Eventually too much winter wore on us and we moved to Matt's home state of Vermont, where we live now (ironic because here the winter seems to last forever!) Burlington, elected recently as the healthiest "city" in the US, has a wonderful ethos of social and environmental awareness. But Australia is calling to me and I envision coming home to an ecovillage where my neighbours are my friends and support network, and where we all encourage each other to live better.

Born and raised in Vermont, much of my life has centered around skiing and the outdoors. My degree in Natural Resources and Recreation Management has led me on a journey through which I have made incredible friends, found jobs that I have been passionate about and traveled to some amazing places. My occupations have ranged from carpentry to ski patrolling to real estate valuation and I look forward to contributing my skills to the ecovillage. Now at 32, I find myself asking more questions than I have in the past and being struck by the lyrics of songs and bumper stickers. Although my need for adventure has not diminished, my need for community, social awareness, health and a peaceful lifestyle has increased. I envisage rock climbing and fishing with others from the community, large family pot lucks, helping my neighbors with construction projects and practicing random acts of kindness.
