Last year I sold my London flat and my home is now a campervan. I'm currently travelling around Australia with the aim of writing that book. I'm meeting great people and hearing lots of stories and enjoying immensely Australia's wonderful landscapes and wildlife.
I'm seeing the dramatic results of our long term drought; water restrictions, dried up lakes, salinity problems, and how the credit crunch is affecting people I meet.
I'm wwoofing (www.wwoof.com.au) on the way and staying as family on a range of properties. I've helped with fencing, rounding up sheep, established vegetable gardens, am a weeding expert, make chutney, clean cabins and photographed naturists! I've yet to go on a camel trek and muster cattle on horseback.
I'm jubilant at having crossed the Nullarbor successfully and photographed the magnificent Great Australian Bight. I'm visiting several communities in WA in order to learn other people's experiences of living in a community. It's the way I want to live, working and living together with like-minded people. I have my sights on a strawbale house. Follow my journey www.escape2australia.net.
